Meet the Team Keryl Rickard
Managing Director & Underwriting Manager
Keryl comes from a family of builders. Her father was a carpenter in the Waikato for more than 40 years and her brother was a plumber and is now a building inspector in Auckland. Keryl has been in the insurance industry since leaving school and has managed and underwritten the Homefirst Builders Guarantee since its launch in 2003.
Keryl doesn’t have a lot of spare time, but when she does her interests include husband Jim, socializing, Jim, retail therapy and Jim .... and now that she has her HT licence - truck driving!

 Jim Rickard
Director
Jim has building in his blood. His grandfather was a carpenter in England and his father was a plumber for all of his life. Jim has been an insurance professional for over 40 years, having senior roles in both international and local commercial broking companies. He has been involved in the provision of guarantees and related specialised products for the construction industry since 2002.
Jim is married to Keryl, and his interests include rugby, sport, history, family history, gardening and Keryl (not necessarily in that order!).

 Kylie Bloxham
Administrator & Underwriter
Kylie joined Builtin in 2006 having worked for an insurance company since leaving Polytech, where she studied to be a Legal Executive. She administers the applications for Guarantees and regularly liaises with builders and owners.
Kylie is very mechanically minded because of her passion for motorbikes and enjoys riding and racing her Yamaha R6 called "Marvin". Her other interests include hunting, music, hockey, dancing and socializing.

 Dave Magee
Claims Manager
Dave started his carpentry and joinery apprenticeship at the age of 15 and has been in the building trade all his working life. Now, as a trade qualified builder, and having been an insurance assessor for several years, Dave is particularly suited and qualified to handle claims which do occur from time to time.
Married to Christine, looking after two grandchildren keeps them both busy and young at heart, but when time permits, Dave likes to go fishing.

 Ben Rickard
Marketing Manager
Everything Ben knows about the building trade he has learned from Jim and from helping his grandfather as a child. Ben only recently joined the family business after a stint living in the UK where he worked with brands like Nestle and Campbells.
Engaged to Heron and with a young son, Ben is busy making the most of living in New Zealand again, catching up with friends, spending time on the beach and seeing our beautiful scenery.

 Kim Allen
Administration Assistant & Receptionist
Kim is the front line of our business, and is most often the first voice you'll hear when you give us a call or visit the office. Apart from working here at Builtin Kim's only experience of the building trade is that she lives in one! But she certainly has the skills, constructing all our kitset furniture. Kim is trained in early childhood education, which comes in very handy keeping the boys in the office in line.
In her spare time Kim enjoys listening to music and going to the movies.
