This Guarantee provides you (and your financier) with complete peace of mind when you are embarking on one of the biggest investments you will ever make – the building of a new home, or alterations &/or additions to your existing one.

It’s simple really - We guarantee the obligations of the Builder to complete your contract and ensure that your home is free of defects.

This includes the work of sub-contractors contracted by the builder, such as the plumber and electrician. Materials that you supply or the work of sub-contractors that you engage are not covered however – it covers the work contracted to be done by your builder.

The Homefirst Builders Guarantee

Today, people building new homes need to know they are building with people they can trust. Your builder’s reputation and workmanship may speak for themselves. That’s why you’re building with them, right? But in today’s climate that is no longer enough. Sometimes things do go wrong.

Has your builder got you covered?

Builders who can provide you with a Homefirst Builders Guarantee have been professionally assessed by Builtin New Zealand Limited and found to have adequate business skills and capital to give you, the homeowner, peace of mind.

How do I know I’ve engaged a Builtin approved builder?

Only home builders who have been assessed and approved by Builtin New Zealand Limited can provide you with a Homefirst Builders Guarantee.

Builders who are licensed by the Government are not necessarily eligible for a Homefirst Builders Guarantee.

We recommend that you and your legal advisors read the terms and conditions of the Guarantee carefully, and suggest you do not:

·   make a payment to the builder in excess of what is stated in the Building Contract,

·   make a payment before the completion of the stage as determined by the Building Contract,

·   commence building without a Building Consent,

·   commence building without an Approved Building Contract,

·   breach any of the terms and conditions contained in the Building Contract.
